On June 29, a meeting of the Coordination Center for Activities Related to Ukraine’s Participation in the Implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) was held.
Ukraine took over the EUSDR Presidency in November 2021 and became the first country to lead this process without being a member of the EU.
“Despite the ongoing armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, we continue this initiative and effectively ensure the fulfillment of our commitments. We understand that this is an issue of European integration, so it is important for us to ensure that all planned activities are carried out at a high level”, – said Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The Annual Forum is a platform for discussing and defining future priorities of the Strategy, which is the biggest event of the year. It is expected that the main topics of discussion will be the new challenges faced by the Danube region due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine and rapid climate change, as well as the search for new tools to counter them effectively.
Given the current situation, this year’s Forum will be organized by Ukraine with the support of the current TRIO (Slovakia-Ukraine-Slovenia) in October 2022 in Slovakia.
Additionally: The Danube Strategy is a platform for cooperation between 14 countries in the Danube region. The Ukrainian part of the Strategy covers Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Zakarpattia regions. States Parties cooperate in the areas of transport, environment, education, security, tourism and the competitiveness of enterprises.
